Exhaustive Removal of the Aqueous Phase Component
Essentially complete removal of water soluble phenol (sodium phenolate) and
cyanide (sodium cyanide) has been achieved. We presented data at the August
2002 American Chemical Society meeting in Boston that showed over 99.9% removal
of these two materials in one to two hours from batch systems containing starting
concentrations of 1 wt% in water at 50°C. Thus an aqueous stream containing
these or other water soluble anions can be stripped of its most offending chemical
and can make the stream acceptable to waste treatment. This is why we call it
Value Recovery. (See Articles Section for journal reference.)
